Joining the Olathe Chamber of Commerce was to be a first of many steps taken along the life of the company that was started by entrepreneur, Becky Rawls-Riley, in 1996. Ms. Rawls-Riley selected Operating Sooner as the company name because that was what she thought people would want when they asked for assistance. Today, that desire has become a defining characteristic for its customers as they seek assistance to quickly make the changes they need to reach customers and achieve profitable growth.
Operating Sooner has gained its expertise in change from working shoulder to shoulder with its customers as they persisted in making improvements in their skills and to strategically apply enabling software technology. By being on the front line with early adopters and other entrepreneurs who knew they were on the verge of a breakthrough, it learned from practical, real-world experience as its customers achieved the immediate boost they sought and continued to achieve as they periodically returned to seek additional assistance from Operating Sooner.
Over the years, many aspects of the company have changed giving it the ability to learn from the school of hard knocks and solidifying its determination to succeed through adaptation. From its origins of delivering general computer services to individuals and Becky’s efforts of hand-delivering 250 hand-made fliers door-to-door in her weekly direct approach to getting customers, its changes have included:
- Certified QuickBooks services to small and home-based businesses.
- Consulting, training, and software sales of ACT! by Sage software to local and regional companies ranging in size from small and home-based organizations to those with international sales reps.
- Certified Marketing Automation Coach services of Infusionsoft, an automated follow-up marketing software and the leader in marketing automation software for entrepreneurs, to information marketers and micro and small businesses.
- Sales and marketing software and services for the online and offline needs of businesses including Glazer-Kennedy Insider Circle information products, sales copy, lists and Internet research tools.
- Customers have expanded to include non-profits and it periodically offers grants for them as it gives back to the community.
- Marketing and sales coaching for those entrepreneurs and owners who found the search for a single magic doohickey that would bring them sustained momentum in changing times was way too much pie-in-the-sky daydreaming for their tastes. They much prefer to take massive action and get traction with a bit of assistance than wait on something else to happen to them.
- “Your Economic Development Quilt” system, created by Becky, is for economic development professionals who truly make their place in the world a great place in which to live and work.
